Renaissance Faire- April 30, 2016!
Enjoy food, music, demonstrations, arts, and activities all recreated from the Middle Ages! Renaissance Faire will be returning to the Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the new time from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. The Albuquerque Renaissance Faire is a rain or shine event.
Here ye! Here ye! Lords and Ladies of Albuquerque, get ready for the most loved event in the Kingdom! All of your favorites will return including The Tavern, Commoner's Food Court, Children's Realm, Group Wedding, and Village Shopping. New this year! There will be a Faire Wear Show: Pet Fashion Contest.
Come and celebrate Smokey Bear Days with a big birthday party for Smokey this weekend at Smokey Bear Historical Park in Capitan. This is a family-friendly event with a fire-prevention theme. Free and open to the public.
Good news for hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts! The Catwalk Trail is re-opening at long last after being closed for several years due to flood damage. The Glenwood Community home page says there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 28th at 10:00 am.

What: Heritage Day in Corrales, presented by the Corrales Historical Society Archives Committee
When: Saturday, May 14, 2016, 10 am - 4 pm
Where: Old San Ysidro Church, 966 Old Church Road, across from Casa San Ysidro
At first it seemed odd to see "Cemetery Tours" on that Corrales Heritage Day poster. Then I got to thinking about the broader meaning of the word "heritage."
Here is another Cemetery Event in conjunction with this Memorial Day, at historic Fort Stanton in Lincoln County. This cemetery has now been designated as one of four state Veteran's Cemeteries. It had been a source of controversy previously as to who qualified to be buried in the 117-year-old cemetery.
Model boat enthusiasts can join the Duke City Model Yacht Club at Tingley Beach for two days of racing. Enter the Rio Grande Cup to compete in this annual event. Free to the public to observe, entry fee to compete.

Come spend Memorial Day in Old Town with some rocking music played by big band, Westside Sound. Enjoy as this 15 piece band that plays everything from swing to polka to today's hits. In between dances grab a bite to eat, check out the great shops all over old town or admire the classic cars surrounding the plaza from Poco Quatros Model A Club.
Westside Sound
Since the early 1980s, the Westside Sound Big Band has played at events and dances in the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area of New Mexico for over 30 years. The band is a fourteen-piece classic Glenn Miller-style Big Band, which includes saxophones, trombones, trumpets, keyboard, bass, drums, and a vocalist. We have a large repertoire of over 200 standard Swing, Jazz, Latin, Polka, Dixieland, Blues, early Rock ‘n Roll, show-tunes and popular favorites.
