Thanks! We've been to and through Estancia a few times. But never went for any events. Will try and remember next year...

Default Vamonos - Weekly Current Events Magazine

I have made reference before to specific articles in the Ruidoso News supplement Vamonos. It's published weekly with the locally distributed Friday paper edition and made available world-wide via the internet. It covers most events planned for the immediate future in the Lincoln County area - and more.

http://production.elpasotimes.net/Vamonos/Vamonos.pdf

The Ruidoso area bustles with events throughout the year, but there are two "lulls" in activity in between winter ski season and summer high-tourist season - it's the "fall lull" at present.

I invite everyone out for the 2016 Placitas Holiday Sale next weekend, Nov 19-20. A lot of fine artisans put their work on sale here every year, plus some local food and wine.

Default Free Entry on Friday - State Parks

This Friday (day after Thanksgiving):

Quote:
Staff of New Mexico State Parks is joining other states by waiving fees on Black Friday in support of retailer REI, the commonly used name for Recreational Equipment Inc., and a growing number of other organizations that are encouraging people to spend more time outdoors.

The agency will waive the $5 day-use fees for all 35 state parks on Friday.

Take a magical ride with ABQ RIDE on its 52nd Annual Luminaria Tour

Enjoy this annual New Mexican tradition without worrying about parking, driving through snow, annoying traffic delays, or wasting gas. The tour, which begins and ends at the Albuquerque Convention Center, takes approximately 45 minutes and travels through Old Town and the Country Club area.

The info page includes a street map the bus takes if you want to try it on your own...

Default Ski Apache announces opening date...

Caveat emptor...

Quote:
MESCALERO, N.M. (November 30, 2016) — With 8 inches of fresh snow and new snow being made as temperatures drop, Ski Apache will be opening on Friday, Dec. 9.
"Opening" in this case means they hope to have enough depth in the beginner/novice lower mountain areas.
