Carrizozo is the sleepy small town that has been trying very hard in recent years to revive itself as the seat of Lincoln County, NM. Attracting various artists to take up residence there has met with a good deal of success, but like all such endeavors, it waxes and wanes with the overall economic conditions.
This weekend, Aug. 13-14, is the annual Artist's Studio Tour event.Today's cover of the Ruidoso News event magazine "Vamonos" features the art work of one such artist who moved to Carrizozo a few years ago from San Diego to take up residence - Rick Geary.
This weekend is the 100th birthday of the National Park Service. There will be no charge to enter your National Parks from Thursday, Aug. 25th thru Sunday, Aug. 28th. Come and celebrate at one of New Mexico's fifteen National Parks, Monuments and Preserves.
