I hope I'm wrong but I think Dona Ana County is going to see a surge in cases. I went to Lowes today and it was packed. Unbelievable. It was the first time I have been to anyplace except the grocery and post office in 6 weeks, and it looked like those 6 weeks never happened. Well under 50% of the people were wearing any face coverings. It wasn't as bad as Walmart in that respect, but it wasn't much better.
According to the scorecard site we get an F for reduction in non-essential visits and are sitting at D+ overall today. Yeah, I'm afraid the worst isn't quite over yet for the Las Cruces vicinity.
The NM Governor is lifting some restrictions starting tomorrow:
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham extended her Public Health Order to May 15.
However, during Thursday's briefing, the governor also announced she would allow more businesses to open, starting May 1.
-Non-essential retailers can operate via curbside service or delivery-- where permitted by their license (Does not include liquor stores)
-Gun stores will be allowed to operate by appointment only
-Pet services will also be allowed to operate
-Golf courses allowed to open for golf only- non dine-in food service or retail
The governor also announced the businesses that will have to remain closed under the new health order, and other restrictions.
-Offices, workspaces, retailers (except for curbside/delivery)
-Dine-in restaurants and bars (except for curbside/delivery)
-Indoor malls, gyms, salons, theaters and casinos to remain closed
-Mass gatherings prohibited
-14-day quarantine order remains in place for out-of-state airport travel
The governor said she is relaxing restrictions because New Mexico is bending the curve.
However, she said New Mexicans should wear face coverings while they are out.

If I went to a store and the parking lot was full, I would turn around and leave.

Thats the smart thing to do, and I wanted to, but I needed supplies for work. I got in and out as quickly as I could and if I go back I will do what i do at Walmart: Go 5 minutes before they close.
I think Dr Ioannidis's credentials make him a credible source.
I do think that those who dislike this president and Republicans are more inclined to want to keep the economy and our lives shut down.
I do think that those who enjoy free markets and capitalism are more inclined to want to open up the economy.
Nobody wants to wreck the economy. Nor (I hope) does anyone want people to end up hospitalized, with permanently damaged internal organs from this horrible illness. It's a terrible trade-off to have to contemplate. So just calm down, and stop flinging unfounded accusations, please. Everyone's struggling together with this thing.
If you're so pro-capitalism, how do you feel about the fact that the funding for relief/support for small businesses and self-employed individuals was grabbed by big businesses within the first 2 days it became available, leaving the people it was truly intended for high and dry?

IDK about Wal-Mart specifically, but I've found that some stores have no line or only a short one, if you arrive around 9 a.m., or 9:30.

I think it sucks, but I will caveat that by stating what small businesses should have done, and should do, is to request relief through the courts, by rightfully stating their 5th amendment rights have been rightfully violated through the takings clause, whereby state governors compelled businesses to close without just compensation. Instead of using the federal government as a means to print currency and in essence, de-value it, if I was a small business owner, I would file suit and go after the state I lived in immediately, using Eastern Enterprises v. Apfel, 524 U.S. 498 (1998)as precedent. Also, in New Mexico, the governor has effectively violated Article II, Section 18 of the state constitution she swore to uphold. "Sec. 18. [Due process; equal protection;
sex discrimination.] No person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law;
nor shall any person be denied equal protection of the laws/"
It's in the news that all roads into Gallup are closed and there's emergency declared in the city, under Riot Control Act. So far it looks like they're limiting 2 people per car and to essential travel outside the house.

There are a lot of things in this country that need to change. Conditions in many Native communities are one of them. Or 10 of them. Or 20....
