Before you go to the Polls, those of you in New Mexico may want to consider this.

Norman Mattoon Thomas (November 20, 1884 - December 19, 1968) was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Thomas
Politics:
Thomas opposed the United States' entry into the First World War. He founded a magazine, The World Tomorrow, in January, 1918, and in 1921-22 he was associate editor of The Nation.
In 1922 he became codirector of the League for Industrial Democracy. Later, he was one of the founders of the National Civil Liberties Bureau (the precursor of the American Civil Liberties Union) and The Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy. He was an unsuccessful Socialist candidate for Governor of New York State in 1924, and for Mayor of New York City in 1925 and 1929.

Norman Thomas said this in a 1944 speech:

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."

Take a look around you, what do you see! http://allsidespoliticalforums.com/2sides/Smileys/default/icon_sad.gif (broken link)

I don't think bill richardson was in any wars started by the US either, that doesn't disqualify him from being a governor does it? and what about arnold, what army did he serve in? and california is bankrupt too, or, on the verge. so, I think I'll ask a moderator to move this thread to the P&OC forum.
While you're at it, move Mr. Kilmer to the Hollywood section of the California forum.

Without even looking at his politics or his idiotic statements in interviews, I just cannot see how he is experienced in leadership enough to run for governor. I would tell him to get involved on a more local/regional level before entering the gubernatorial race.

There are many more qualified people, some of whom I would vote for, and some of whom I would not, that will most likely be running.

When I look around I see staggering corruption and lingering degradation on a scale unprecedented in American History brought to us primarily by the last National criminal regime and associated republican Machiavellian chicanery and greed. The democrats surely participated in this chaos as well, but not to the breathtaking extent the repubs have insidiously engineered to scuttle our Democracy and seize perpetual power for themselves and their selfish interests. I see a Country hugely neglected and crumbling with infrastructure in every city in tatters because avaristic, lascivious uber-capitalists seized every opportunity to disenfranchise a sorely beset middle class and funnel every possible asset to the uppermost tiers of American High Society, deceitfully manipulating their gullible minions of Bubba "right is righters" to do their cynical bidding...while they outsourced their very jobs overseas!!!!!! Pathetic. Never again can these scoundrels and villains be entrusted with our future (and our children's future) without solid and ironclad constraints and provisions limiting their excesses at our collective expense. Never again be misled by their lies and dark subterfuge.

I just don't get why you sadly manipulated neo-cons so admire an underachieving, elitist, semi-literate New England frat boy who paraded about as a Texas tough guy (talk about a pretender!!!)? This malodorous flotsam utterly failed at every task his father or family name didn't buy him out of! The witless toad nearly destroyed our country and obliterated the Constitution to boot! Not to over stress arousing the seething contempt of the entire planet against us and increasing terrorist sentiments and resolve! Contempt and ill-will that will take years to erase, even with Obama and his idealism. And then there is his leering side-kick, the supremely contemptible, worm-tongued narcissist chicken-cheney...he who gets such obligatory applause at carefully orchestrated military events...the same human offal who grabbed five deferments because of his towering cowardice during Viet Nam!!! This toxic gas bag is currently on the circuit justifying his monumental and disgraceful criminality!!! These utter fools, thugs and criminals deserve serious prosecution (which they will elude, much to our National shame) and they should spend the rest of their depraved lives in contrition on their knees begging forgiveness for the many vices they have indulged in at the world's expense. How can you admire this filth and criticize much lesser evil and tawdry stupidity??? Kilmer is not one millionth the scum that bush/cheney represent. Perplexing irony to the max!

"One must open one's eyes to see!" ; "Tempests in Teapots"...such silly, gullible nonsense at best. Really gotta ditch this malignant thread, I'm saddened and vexed by this ignorance and shortsightedness. It appears to be a National affliction unfortunately.
Hey! I'm impressed. That's quite a speech!
Funny, I don't remember saying about Bush or Cheney Or even the pathetic national government we have now that is getting ready to spend OUR way into oblivion, I merely posted a quote from one of your idealogues, sorry if I got your nickers in such a twist.
You better be scraping up your "change" bro, you're going to need it.

Default we'll keep the gov we have, thank you

Dear vet, please name one, just one politician who has NOT accepted money for doing special favors.
Ahummm, I thought so, you can't, and do you know what?, neither can I. it's easy for republicans to point fingers to these who might be deemed unacceptable or corrupt, but my memory isn't that bad, because I can recall some people questioning cheney's affiliation with haliburton, so, it's ok, we expect this tit for tat game. I really am not concerned about someone unseating our great governor the least. kilmer should remain in hollywood. I did like his performance in tombstone though.

Bill Richardson is still the Governor of New Mexico because he was even too corrupt to be part of Obama's administration.
Move the topic where ever you wish. It doesn't make Richardson any less corrupt or Kilmer any less of a fool.

still don't know why you people are so insulting. moonbat slang. we on this forum have done nothing and said noting in slang terminology referring to the republican party. which just goes to show people who read these forums how desperate you folks really are, you just cannot come across with a point of view without insulting others who are in your path. we have ammunition to retaliate against these types of name calling attacks of the democratic party. it is one thing to respectfully disagree, but you folks don't know how, and says alot to readers.

"I'll be your Huckleberry!" Kilmer's great line from Tomestone. He was fantastic in that film about Jim Morrison of the Doors as well. Liked him in Heat, and Kill Me Again and several other flicks!

I think most of these angry, pouting moppets are just jealous. They don't have lucrative Hollywood careers, a starlet wife, thousands of prime NM acres, millions of bucks in the bank, toys galore and international recognition! They WISH they were one sixteenth as successful as that guy and most likely never will be! All I'm saying is Kilmer is entitled to his opinions and deserves to be heard. It is a free country, the last I knew.

Swift Boating this talented actor and distorting his viewpoints is just the sort of Limpbaugh-esque crap that we collectively threw out of power last election. These 28%ers are predictably short when it comes to remembering the staggering abuses of the last infamous eight years. Dubya could lead these true believers right off cliffs and they would blithely follow like lemmings.
