I don't vote a straight ticket just for the sake of voting a straight ticket, but when I look over the choices during the General Election, it usually ends up being just that.
I have a feeling that it's going to be tight between Pearce (who originally gave up the seat he just won back in yesterday's primary to run for the senate) and Teague for Dist 2 rep.
Teague lost me completely when he voted for cap-and-trade. As a businessman who has an oil-related business, (oilfield services, if I remember correctly), it surprised me that he would toe the party line and vote for that.
Teague would have to be running against a diehard ultra-liberal before he would ever get my vote. I like some of his other positions, but not that particular one.
very interesting outcome. Cathy, I never vote a straight ticket, but normally it does pretty much turn out that way, with exception of local races (not always) As for Pearce, if we were still in NM because of Teague's voing for cap-and-trade, I would vote for Pearce, but I know him and I personally, for reasons I won't go into do not like him.
I've voted for many that I do not personally like simply because I could somewhat stomach their past records and stands on issues as opposed to their opposition.
I would have hated to have had the choices Texas does this year. Ugh!!!
Yeh good friends of mine too. He is so genuine he would be perfect but NM made a big mistake IMHO.
Linda must be a rock to go through what they did for the last few months too.
This gubernatorial race is going to be in the national news all summer and fall.
It is very unusual to have two women running for governor against each other ... and it could be good or bad publicity for our state.
Let's hope they keep the campaign clean -- stressing what they are going to do for the state, defending their records ... and keeping the personal attacks to a minimum. We'll see.

Denish is already going strongly negative as of a TV ad this morning.

and this just drives me nuts...What happened to the days when commercials were positive, you never saw a soap company say, something like, don't use XXX brand cause it won't get your clothes clean, use TTT brand. And what happened to the days when polical advertising stressed the positive things a candidate could or would do, not the horrible, usually exagerated awful things the opposite candidate is doing or did?

There's your answer... No pol wants to commit to DOING something or to stand on
their own record of supposed accomplishments...
