The apartment building was actually built on NYCHA's land. I guess nycha agreed to let them build the apartment building in their property if they give 25% of the apartments to NYCHA residents. That's what I was told by my housing manager

A lot of these housing lotteries give preference to NYCHA residents because since the rents charged by most of the housing lotteries is more than what your average NYCHA resident pays, it would essentially free up NYCHA apartments from people who have higher incomes to provide more vacancies for those on the waiting list who wouldn't be able to afford the rents in the housing lotteries.

When did you have the interview? I went on the feb 10th. They really didn't give that much info. The woman who collected my documents stated that she will call within 2 weeks.

I went on February 13 and was told that they would check income and let me know between 3 weeks to a month. Did they collect a money order too?

Yes they did collect my money order and all of the documents that were listed on the interview appointment notice. Do you have the NYCHA preference? I wish I can see the layout of these apartments.

Yes, I have NYCHA preference too. I'm really praying that everything works out including the credit check. ☺ I read that the building won't be finished until April.
