Forgive my ignorance but this is my first time actually participating in a lottery--what does it actually mean to be waitlisted? And weren't you pretty far along in the process? Would some be waitlisted that late in the game because someone else got approval for the last spot or something?

Basically BG did what HDC said not to do; speed through the applicants without letting each application run its course; i.e., appeals, document submissions etc. So because of that, HDC is now clamping down because of complaints and so they are reviewing the list to make sure applications were done in order and that no one was skipped. I, through fault of my own, skipped some people - so now that those people are being given their fair shot at the building, anyone ahead of them must wait - waitlisted...
