The one-bedroom internal transfer list hasn’t been updated in months, other than pushing me farther back on the list, most probably due to people taking their applications off hold status. I’m sure I’m not the only one who anxiously opens the mailbox every day hoping to see an offer letter! It’ll happen! Best wishes, all!
Hi, ChelseaRez! Are you looking to transfer from a studio or from a one-bedroom? As a current resident, are you allowed to specify certain buildings or apartment lines?
Hi! I’m in a studio now, and yes, you are able to be very specific about the line, building, floor, etc. The less specific you are, will most likely get you an apartment faster though. I know what I want, so it’s worth the wait.
Thanks! I know current cooperators get priority over new people trying to get in. Do you see a separate waiting list? If so, how many people are on it?
I guess we can't really compare the two lists because people on the insider list can be fussy, and maybe someone is willing to wait years for one of those enormous terraces. I know I would!
I think you’re right about the lists. Some people do hold out for those apartments on the 19th floor with huge terraces. The two floors above them have the same layouts, but have balconies which are also large. I’ve never been in one of those apartments, but according to the floor plans on the PennSouth site, it seems that you give up storage space for the larger outdoor spaces. Just a matter of preference. Those apartments also have great views, I imagine! The bottom line is that if one is on a waiting list, they will eventually be offered apartments. You have to live in your first apartment for three years before you can submit an application for an internal transfer. Waiting time varies after that, depending on what you request, of course.
You said you know what you want in a one bedroom and you’re willing to wait for it. Would it be anything like a larger kitchen or possibly a certain view? Are the apartments in the single-core buildings more desirable than those in the larger buildings? What makes a one bedroom good in your eyes?
