When submitting bank statements, can I block out my checking/savings acct. numbers??
I worry that if I’m not approved in the final part of the process, that my banking account info. will be sitting out there freely to some agent I only have access to by email. The amount in my account is significant and this is why I’m concerned….

This stuff worries me, too. They literally have every piece of sensitive data about me and my family. Bank accounts, social security cards, drivers licenses, birth certificates - EVERYTHING. And its just sitting there in their computers and on their desks.

I redacted all my account numbers in the documents I sent.

Did they ever say anything about it to you? I think I may start doing this.

Do not redact, you can be deemed ineligible. Your spending habits are not their concern, they are looking for additional sources of income.

I thought about this but wouldn’t really worry about it. Anytime you write a check to someone all of your information is also on that. Besides, they would most likely need ID and/or a PIN to withdraw anything. You are also federally insured up to $250,000.

If I were going through this process, I would safeguard a few things, either by locking down my credit (which can be inconvenient) or subscribing to an identity-protection service. It has happened that several lottery winners experienced security breaches after applying to one of the Hunters Point South buildings.

They have your social security number and all your personal banking info along with your birthday and address which are all used to verify who you are. There is reason to be worried. I have also been a victim of identity theft in the past all they needed was my social, bday and address. Immediately they were applying for unemployment and trying to take out car loans with all my information. It honestly doesn’t take much
