Can anyone share what information or materials are needed for the application to get on the actual Penn South waitlist (when sending the $250 deposit)? Or, what was required in 2019. I looked at the various Penn South threads and couldn't find this information. (@macnyc2003, thank you so much for posting what is needed for the apartment application at the later stage! It is immensely helpful to see what is likely needed down the road. And @Brooklynkia, thanks for sharing the information that you got about applications being expected to be sent out by early 2024.)
I have been trying to get on the Penn South waitlist since 2003, so I want to ensure I am prepared for every step and don't mess it up.
Thank you to all who contributed to these housing lottery threads. They are an invaluable resource.

Just you money and a quick application you fill out.
I briefly spoke with someone there a week or so ago. They said they had just gotten the names from HPD of who was selected in the lottery and were still preparing the applications for the lottery winners. PS said they expect to send that out early 2024. That was a long way of saying it will prob be at least a month and a half before we get anything.
Other info that might be helpful for those who are just as excited as me:
“Applications will be sent in two ways: 1) An email will be sent to all applicants who provided an email address, containing a link to the online application form. 2) Paper applications will be sent by mail to all applicants, regardless of whether they provided an email address or not. All lottery winners will have the option to complete the application on line or by paper.
Everyone selected in the lottery will have 60 days from the date applications are emailed and mailed to submit a complete application and administrative fee.”
You pay a separate charge for electricity. Penn South has its own power plant. You are metered for what you use. It appears on a separate line on your monthly maintenance bill. I don’t know how taxes are handled.
Property taxes at a coop are included in the monthly maintenance. You don’t actually own real estate, you own shares of the coop corporation.
