It's a cultural thing... I personally love living in NYC and always have. You get used to your environment eventually and learn to cope with it. And one thing that I will agree to with sobroguy is that there really is no place like NYC though I also feel that not everyone is meant to live here. I'll be honest I could never see myself living in a wooded out neighborhood. It just creeps me out to be in complete isolation from the world. And even if its not isolated it always gives me a desolate feeling... but to each his own...
Tilden houses is one of the more infamous houses in Brownsville... but they are so many projects in that area and they're all in such proximity to each other that in reality they're all bad...
Hmm you believe the 88th precinct is worse than the 83rd?! Fort Greene/Clinton Hill did have an uptick in crime last year but I would never think they're worse than Bushwick.
yeah i think the 88 is worse when it comes to violent crime (murder). i don't hear about too much murders in the 83rd. more quality of life crimes in my opinion.

Tilden, Van Dyke, Langston Hughes, Brownsville, Glenmore Plaza, Howard Houses, Marcus Garvey, Seth Low, off the top of my head. I've been in Howard Houses and Brownsville Houses before and couldn't wait to leave either one.

honestly i think the only wild part of bushwick is the eastern part (think wilson ave and halsey street area). the rest of it comes off as an average ghetto to me. 88th of course got the whole fort greene, lafayette gardens, and fulton street in the 88th looks just like the 1980s....nothing but crackheads. drugs. then you have the gang violence in the 88th too. putnam & downing, putnam and grand. those are some pretty tough blocks. its a small area that the 88th covers for so much to happen. only from flatbush to classon, atlantic ave to flushing ave.
the female cop that shot the guy who tried to rob the beauty salon a few months back? 88th.

83rd actually has more homicides usually (13 last year) than 88th (6 last year). I understand what both you and Seventh Floor are saying as Fort Greene/Clinton Hill is not as safe as people like to promote it. The projects were terrible in crime last year and even outside of that area, theer was a definite uptick in shootings. This year already has a bad start with the shooting at the basketball court weeks ago and a homicide listed in the stats. Of course it is possible that because Bushwick is a lot bigger, the crime looks worse over there. And for a hood that's claimed to be gentrified, the crime rate for the 88th is still a bit up there but that's typical for other hoods.
