as far as the travel is to manhattan by subway, we have to remember, NOT everyones life is geared towards Manhattan...so in reality it isn't far away....

ABTS is nice, I have seen it in person, it looked pretty.

All those houses will be filled with section eight tenants very soon. Far Rockaway is awful!! Talk about justifiable white flight. Every miscreant, criminal, and scumbag is flocking to far rockaway.

Arverne is not Far Rockaway. I have been living in Arverne by the Sea for 3 years now and with the new restaurants and supermarket the community is getting better and better.

I would agree with post 67 I've lived in Arverne for over 20 years, and Arverne and Far Rockaway are def two VERY different areas. Arverne is by far a safer environment, I come in from work in the wee hours........ like 3am and never once do I feel like im in danger. I would reccomend folks to my area without question. Seems like the more negative responses are coming from those who aren't from the area but instead "heard" of the area.

I noticed they rereouted the Q21 bus to go to Beach 69 in Arverne, it use to go to B 116 like the Q53. I also notice a lot more Q21's on Cross Bay Blvd then before, the bus use to only run once an hour but I saw 2 going in one direction the other day a minute apart.

I noticed it last night too when I was walking on Rockaway Beach Blvd. The Q21 is "supposed" to run once every half-hour according to the schedule posted on MTA's website.
