Are there any areas your thinking of moving too and not visiting your girlfriends family?
I think Visiting. The visitors should escort by the people who providing you lodging, and you should be safe. How worse can pjs of Paris which is full of North and Sub Sarahan Africans compared to AA and poor Hispanics.
Nah my dude one of my coworkers got mugged over there near the canal my dude and his girls house was burglarized in that same area. Im not saying its not on the same level but its just areas you dont wanna visit. You also need to remember there are also nice parts of NYC where both Tourist and Transplants wont visit or live.
I used to live in Brighton Beach and would visit the area often. It must've been near the projects or something because I don't remember having any encounters there. I mean, it's not a suburban fantasyland (neither is Brighton Beach or most areas of NYC for that matter), but I don't think there's anything wrong with the area.
I mean, there isn't anything of interest there, so it's not really an area you want to visit (I mean, you could go to a restaurant and hang out on the bay, but you could do the same thing in Manhattan), but I wouldn't consider it dangerous.

True, and a lot of violent riots going on there. Many say the pj's look worse than those built in Russia during the communist era. The prisons are also in bad shape.

thanks guys appreciate the advices, don't worry i'm not gonna commit suicide knocking on unknown people doors in the projects or anything like that, i'm not a fool.
@Bronxguyanese my town was one of the more affected in the whole country during the 2005 riots and i can tell you thugs around those pjs are no joke, won't compare to the US but i guarantee thses dudes don't play
a entire gymnasium was burnt down, they are currently tryin to rebuilt it and the cost is something like 8 million euros!!!!so yeah riots happen quiet often around here but i don't think its as dangerous as brownsville anyway
You should step in a time machine and visit Mott Haven in the 1930s, those Irish and Italian bootleggers will kill a blackman or any outsiders on the spot, you would rush back to present day Mott Haven because its much safer but still dangerous.
i bet that had nothing to do wit the fact that blacks where still treat like trash back in those days, and if you shot or killed one not much would happen to that person. so thanks for the dumd fun fact my g.
Never been to Brownsville. I read this from Wikipedia,
"In 2003, the United States Army Medical Corps established a training program in an emergency room that has received 600 cases per year of gunshot and stabbing victims. The program, called the Academy of Advanced Combat Medicine, started at Kings County the Eighth Medical Brigade, based at Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island, decided to train their reservists in a busy civilian emergency room."
It was a certified war zone. Any improvement in recent years?
This is the problem when ignorance meets fantasy, and people extrapolate nonsense as fact from their imagination. When you don't know, you simply don't know!
First Kings County Hospital is NOT located in Brownsville! It is located a few neigborhoods away in Flatbush, or to be precise, at the confluence of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Wingate, and East Flatbush.
Kings County Hospital, as the name implies is the main public hospital run by the city of New York in Brooklyn. As a public hospital, KCH serves a large portion of low income people from all over Kings County. As a result of this, KCH receives the result of the violence which is too common to low income areas such as Brownsville and others.
As a result of the violent casualtie, KCH is the best equipped 'Trauma Center' in Brooklyn, and consequently is staffed by some of the most experienced 'Emergency' doctors in Brooklyn and the whole of the city.
This fact is likely the reason it was chosen by the Army Reserve for training. KCH receives intake from the entire borough, not exclusively Brownsville. Violent casualties, from Brownsville and elsewhere, are also received at Woodhull, another public hosptial, and Brookdale Hospital (which, jfyi, is the closest to Brownsville).
So, the 600 cases cited originate from the entire borough of Brooklyn, not soley Brownsvile.
