talk about braindead posters.
Strange how NYers twist words...those guns are perfectly legal..only in NY are they made illegal because of draconian gun laws.

This is true. If I'm not mistaken 90 percent of all illegal guns are from down south and also most guns are caught on African Americans. You see the correlation. I was told that from a professor from John Jay that many northerner visit relatives in the south and purchase and bring guns up. The only ethnic group in nyc with high rate of relatives in the south are African Americans. If it was white rednecks moving to Nyc in droves they to will bring guns to NYC illegally too.

It seems as though quite a few people who are against easing restrictions on gun ownership don't have a problem with cops having the authority to stop and search anyone, anyplace, at any time, for any (or no) reason.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I agree skilldeadly, which has nothing to do with owning a gun. Using the NYPD's logic to justify Stop & Frisk (a 5% arrest rate I believe and a few guns off the street out of 600K+ stops), they can just as easily search everyone's homes if "the paint was peeling" or "the flowers were dead" or "there was a light out in the front"..none of which would be a reasonable suspicion to search a home, but I am sure they would find drugs or guns 5% of the time out of 600K+ homes searched.

Will that make us safer? NO, but it does strip us of our rights and freedoms, which is why this policy needs to stop. NOW.

Aside from enforcing draconian gun laws, stop and frisk is also grabbing innocent people for knives. Use to be that in NYC you could not carry a knife that had no more than a 4 inch blade. Now, our guardian angel government, including DA Vance, are prosecuting workman who carry Leatherman tools and ordinary people who have small lock back knives.

Judges are throwing those arrests out constantly.

OH god...liberals have now found KNIFE VIOLENCE. Do you know that houses that have legal knives are 1000 times more likely to have their occupants suffer cut? Thank the almighty NYC wants to protect its sheeple.

Classic case of blame the tool, not the person. If I grab a rope and strangle someone, should we ban ropes? We get in accidents in cars all the time that kill people, should we ban cars?

The Founding Fathers made it very very clear that in no way should we allow government to take away our guns. It's for personal protection and to ensure that tyranny does not force it's way into our country.

Maybe years of living in a "safe" city have you fooled into thinking there is no need for guns. Maybe the idea that the government could never control us like Nazi Germany. Well, I bet you Germans said the same thing.

If you feel you need a gun to walk to the mailbox 15 feet from your house, or gas up the car, or eat at Chili's, or shop at Wal-Mart, then you have major issues, and it has zero to do with crime. Having everyone in the world carry a gun only means you are 6 billions times more likely to get shot...having nobody in the world carry a gun means you have a 0 chance of getting shot. Get it?

Using your logic, we should be encouraging every country to have nuclear weapons ASAP, because then we will all be safer. You would feel safer knowing Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Phillipines, and everyother nation had a nuclear weapon right?

Yes if the world didn't have guns we would all love each other and hug all day. This is the real world. One where if you don't have a gun, guess what, someone else does. I suggest you look back to the Founding Fathers views on gun ownership. They didn't believe in gun control because that was used to control the masses. You blame an inanimate object for all the crime when it's actually the people pulling the trigger. So some people use guns inappropriately, punish everyone. People use alcohol, so lets ban it. Wait, that didn't turn out very well did it? How about drugs? We are winning that war, yes?

How is that using my logic? Personal gun ownership as opposed to countries owning nuclear weapons? Much of a stretch.

Teaching proper gun ownership is what reduces gun violence. Living in NYC and looking down your nose at southerners for wanting to protect their rights is beyond snooty.
