yonkers urban, close and is the true sixth borough of nyc. All of this talk of jersey city being just as much of a borough as brooklyn, and this and that, is ridiculous. No true new yorker would EEEEEEEEVVVVVVEEEEER say jersey is just as ny as brooklyn. Jersey is a completely seperate state with a completely different vibe and feel. U dont feel NEW YORK to you cross that GW. Word up lol
Which place would you vote to be annexed as New York City's 6th borough?
City of Yonkers, NY
Nassau County, NY
Hudson County, NJ
Which place would you vote to be annexed as New York City's 2nd City?
Newark, NJ
White Plains, NY
Yonkers, NY
Jersey City/ Hoboken, NJ
Stamford, CT
Garden City, NY
Bridgeport, CT
New Rochelle, NY
In answer to the first question, none on the list.
The second question, in terms of geographical proximity, would be Jersey City/Hoboken, NJ. In terms of corporate HQ in relation to population size, Stamford, CT wins hands-down!
The only thing I agree with is that Jersey City/ Hoboken is more a part of the city than Staten Island. Staten Island's more a part of New Jersey
Ummm, No!
Staten Island is all you NYC. It's full of South Brooklyn transplants & has little connection to New Jersey. SI is a Brooklyn outpost. It is far, far more culturally connected to BK than NJ.
Jersey City beyond the waterfront is still Jersey City. Ask someone in the Greeneville section of JC if they are the "6th borough" of New York & take note of their response.
No disrespect, but Newark (East Orange & Irvington too) could care less about being NYC's "6th borough".
With that said, you should nominate Yonkers or LI.
Hoboken not withstanding, NJ respectfully declines.
NY & NJ are independant, but share a sybiosis. We are most certainly linked, but different.

Nassau county on LI. They had a chance to be another borough, but opted out years ago. NJ is another state.
It's true: Nassau County turned us down when the westernmost portion of the area voted to become the borough of Queens. But perhaps we ought to be charitable, and ask them if they've had a change of heart.
I think that NYC is perfect the way that it is set up today. My first choice would be to add Nassau to the 5 boroughs. But this would never happen, the people who live here would never accept it, as others have said, it's a well known suburb of the city and that is the way that people want to be idenified as that live there.
Please stop lumping JC with Hoboken. Two totally different places , Hoboken is way more compatible with Weehawken. JC's waterfront has somewhat of a yuppie vibe like Hoboken , but nothing to the extent Hoboken has. Dont mean to complain just got annoyed seeing JC/Hoboken every post.
NYC is perfect as 5 Boroughs, if anything, I would merge Nassua with Queens. If Jersey wants to hand over Hudson County, then that is fine, but then NYC might has to hand someting else in return: Staten Island! ;-) lol. But really, I tend to see North Jersey as a "quasi" 6th Borough.
