I used to bowl there too! That was when the neighborhood was a good one. Hey, remember Ron Turcotte, the famous, horse jockey, lived around there - on Hook Creek Blvd.?
I heard that the developer, Robin Eshaghpour, is about to resume construction at the site. Not sure if its still going to be a CVS Pharmacy, but we will soon find out.
Wow! Talk about a way-back machine. Lived at 242-12 132 nd ave, in the 50's and 60's. Played stick ball, football and slap-ball on those "mean streets" Remember Rose's deli(tasty cakes) with Rx-All Drugs near by. Rosedale lanes and the pizza place across street. Hymie's 'hardware' (I think) and the barber shop and candy store in the same location. PS 38 and baseball on a cement field, speed ball against the bricks. The haunted house on the corner where my crazy brother liked to tempt the fates by breaking windows out.Any one know of, Louis Gottlieb(his brother Martin), Jess and Eric Farber, Murray Alexander, Andy Dubin, Michael Brown, David Diamond or Steve Neufield who famously ran face first into a phone pole during a game of touch.Damn, still remember this 50 years later. Welcome any responses. Thanks.
