We have it so good here in terms of healthcare, don't we?

Some facts for you:

1)The U.S has the highest infant mortality rate in the developed world.

2)The U.S. has the highest per capita expenditure worldwide in healthcare costs.

Those danm SOCIALIST countries in Europe daring to take care of their citizens providing healthcare for everyone, I wonder why they don't wanna emulate our wonderful for-profit model?!?!?!

ugh, how many more months for Bloomie. I just cant stand the man.
Should have rephrased that better. But I think you know what I mean.
Just in case you didn't there was a law put into effect last May that banned smoking in parks and beaches. It was recently repealed. So now you can smoke on parks and beaches again.

Note they are not restricting the size of juice or ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES! When I heard that I just laughed. Good old Bloomy will smack the Slurpee out of the hand of a kid in Harlem but he backs off when it comes to malt liquor 40's. Crazy is right.

I actually agree with some of his bans, as much as I hate Bloomberg.

I'm in really bad health myself and passing by people who smoke just makes me sick.

But the large drinks don't bother me. Can't stop people from buying double.

Well the thing is it's aimed at NYC's poor. If they cant afford to buy 2 drinks then they wont. Hence the subsidy, Medicare, Medicaid argument etc. Bloomberg knows who to hit lol. Majority of his bans affect the poor.

I dont have a big problem with this. I remember when I was younger growing up in the 80's the large size then was like the small now in a lot of these places. Where is the limit? Where does government draw the line? Unfortunately most people are dumb I hate to say it and businesses are not going to protect you. Their main interest is not your health but making money.

In practice though I highly doubt this will have a big effect. People will still drink these unhealthy drinks in larger than necessary sizes. They will just get it somewhere else or double up.

I agree with all of that except the typical universal healthcare plug and misunderstanding (and misspelling) of the so-called "subsidies" to oil.

I say get the government out of healthcare entirely except as a regulatory body to protect consumers. It should not be subsidizing or providing anything itself except to the truly poor and needy.
