better to be aware of the potential risk of collateral damage, seventh.

It can, but at the same time Seventh Floor has a point. Most violent crime is criminal versus criminal. Most of these people are concentrated in poor/bad neighborhoods. If you don't live that lifestyle and don't live in those neighborhoods the danger to you is not that great.

Forget murders for now, let's track assaults. That's usually a better indicator. It takes a certain caliber (pun intended) of person to kill someone. Nothing stops them. Except maybe stop and frisk

That aside, those on the fence, the kid that can't control himself, is emboldened when rules are lax. Ergo, the need to monitor purse snatchers, vandalism, assaults with and without deadly weapons. There are ALWAYS way more of those than murders.

Look at the knockout game. This clever offshoot of what I have no idea why, is a marvel unto itself. Kids felt comfortable enough to smack old people and those that didn't stand a chance. You have to have a LOT of protein in your diet to think you can get away with that, with witnesses, in broad daylight. Don't you think?

The worse part is, the more it happens, the more comfortable a few kids get. Bring a few of those to the pavement and miraculously, the incidents diminish. Say what you want about Guiliani, he DID get a handle on things. Dinkins???? Not so much....

Stop and Frisk is not a color thing. It's a thug thing. Black and White. You know, there were a LOT of black people much safer when the thuglettes were being taken down. Abuse? You bet. However, I think the good outweighed the bad and there was bad to be had. No matter, it will be interesting to see the trends in the next year or two.

As the other writer said, if it starts trending up, you will know there is some truth to this diatribe. If not, there are other issues at hand. Either way, for now, I would keep my eyes open at all times in NYC. Sad, the city has quite a bit to offer. Shame we have to spend so much resource keeping it open to all to enjoy.

Is concealed carry even an option in NYC? Pepper Spray? Anything?

This tall bozo of a clown we have as a mayor is going to undo all the positive changes NYC has accomplished in the last 20 years.

Again, assaults and even theft happen mainly in the worst neighborhoods and in the worst areas.

And most of the assaults are criminal versus criminal as well.

A non criminal living in a nice neighborhood has LITTLE to worry about. It's not like the city is shutting down the NYPD.

Indeed. There's really no point. The public in NYC voted de Blasio into office and posting on City Data will not all of a sudden turn NYC Republican.

Nope, nope and NOPE. The heads-in-the-clouds libbies who run this town believe that law abiding folk should be beholden to criminals if the situation arises that they are confronted by one. Self-defense is seen as a relic of Neanderthal times.

That said, I carry a gun 24/7. My kids will always be protected by firearms just like Obama's, Cuomo's, and DeBlasio's are, whether those fools like it or not.
