Okay, so going by borders that are Nagle, Hudson, 155th, and Harlem River, I did a quick search using an internet site called Yelp. There are "entry" bars you can put at the top. For the top left, I wrote "Restaurants" and then for the other part I wrote "Washington Heights" at first, then realized that it goes quite a bit over Nagle. Instead, I changed it to go from Broadway and 173rd and then used a "filter" for distance of 1 mile. This sometimes goes a bit over especially a few blocks south of 155th street, but if you look at the map where they point things out, you can "filter" things with your own eyes! Here is a link with the parameters in the url string I used.
I also took the liberty of listing a few that were good with most being places I've been to before. This is a good start for you, but if you need additional help, let us know! The board is here to help!

It's interesting that you don't have more Kosher places listed. There is a Jewish population in Washington Heights, albeit a small one.
Stop being petty......you were provided a comprehensive list of restaurants in Washington Heights....181st and Fort Washington area is a hidden gem.....even I know about the sushi spot up there......if I had some serious coin, that would be the only area in Manhattan I would consider living, within walking distance of the A train on 181st. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't hear anything about rat infestations in that part of Washington Heights.

That area is really nice, yeah. I wanted to move there last year to make it easier to commute but it's just a bit out of my range since I don't want roomates...
As a more series response to the topic, while you could argue that many neighborhoods in NY have a third world feel (uneducated people, garbage everywhere, people don't speak english, homeless bums everywhere, etc), the difference is that if you were in an actual third world city, you would probably be liable to be killed or mugged every ****ing day. Even in most ****ty areas of New York you are relatively unlikely to be the victim of anything beyond rudeness. And that's a big difference, so the third world descriptor isn't really accurate.

Anyone who moves into a place the Times says is gentrifying is naive. The Times says the South Bronx, Jamaica, East New York, Brownsville, Flatbush, and Harlem are gentrifying.
The problem is people want something for nothing. If you ant a nice neighborhood, that's quiet you'd have to pay a lot of money to live in the neighborhoods that are ALREADY gentrified. As I said on another thread, it took LIC, Chelsea, the West Village, Hells Kitchen, UWS, and Williamsburg over 20 years to gentrify.
[b]Jamaica Queens is transforming unless you have some eyes diseases for you not able to see that , or you just don't want to admit reality . The reality is Jamaica Queens is one of the areas in NYC that is in the middle of a transformation . New high rise buildings are appearing everywhere in downtown Jamaica , a lot of infrastructure works will happen soon , there is already a plan and it's already been financed .There will be new stores , restaurants , offices etc soon in the downtown area , more renovations already started at the LIR station downtown . Rome wasn't built in one day , so in the next 3 to 5 years downtown Jamaica and Jamaica over all will be different , And by the way Jamaica already has nice middle and upper middle class suburban feel neighborhoods , like Laurelton , Cambria Heights , Rosedale and others, so there is already a middle class and upper middle class population who have some level of wealth living in Jamaica , so stop saying STUPID STUFFS . Yes Jamaica Queens is one of the areas of NYC that will be hot in the next few years , there are many proofs that can back up this claim ./B]
Given the fact that NYC is one of the richest cities in the world, the condition of many of the neighborhoods don't reflect that. Even some of the richest parts of Manhattan are overrun with homeless and filth
My wife and I moved down to Florida last year and our quality of life has improved tremendously! The cost of living in NYC was no longer worth putting up with its poor quality of life.
We're currently renting while looking for a house to buy. We pay $1050/month for a 2br/2bath with our own laundry room in a wonderful gated community. Pool, jacuzzi, gym, dog park, 2 assigned parking spots, etc.. Never in a million years can you get what we have anywhere close to NYC for what we pay. Not to mention, we're only 15 minutes from some of our nations best beaches! Wife works from home and my commute to/from work is 20 minutes each way. No tolls, parking fee, etc. Life is great! NYC is in our rear view forever.
Depend on the area of Florida you are , there are areas in Florida that are not great , there are some bad areas in Florida. The state of Florida over all doesn't have the great public transportation NYC has , yes things are more affordable in Florida but NYC has more jobs than the cities of Florida, and there are other things where NYC beats cities of Florida
The neighborhood was cheap, so he likely moved where he could afford to live. To live in a neighborhood with people who are at least middle class would cost a lot of money.
Established people who are middle class tend to lived either in houses, or if they live in the city they live in condos or co-ops. Rentings for poor people, or people who haven't established themselves yet or who are just going to be in an area temporarily.
Your view of people who are at least middle class and the way they supposed to be is LAUGHABLE . I am upper middle class and I live in Rochdale Village Jamaica Queens , it is co op I pay rent every month . And what make me upper middle class , is the fact that I have no debts , I have money in the bank , I am able to pay my bills , I always have cash in my pockets , I can afford certain things , the apartment that I live in is well furnish . I am able to put food on my table without scratching my head , so I have a comfortable life and I live in Rochdale Village , Jamaica.
If it's true, then where's the proof? You make numerous blanket statements constantly with no evidence, but have such high standards for others...
