You are to be applauded then, for your fellow countrymen don't show much interest in assimilation.
I live within walking distance of a Russian market. Its patrons are the furthest from an example of assimilation I could possibly offer. They're the only blight on an otherwise typical American working class neighborhood.
Oh my.
That's putting it a bit strongly, no? ("blight", etc?)

No it isn't. Am here to tell you, the Russians moving to Staten Island are some of the worst around. Loud, *always speaking in Russian* etc. Incredibly rude. Nyet this... Da that... Nothing wrong with speaking in your native tongue (still speak my native language) but they make *no effort* to assimilate or speak English. Am sorry, but this is not the USSR. Bad enough how they do things in Brighton Beach and Sheepshead Bay. New home is now in America. Let's embrace it a little. If things were so great there, wouldn't have left in the first place.
My neighborhood is American. I couldn't find another nation's flag flying if I tried.
Assimilation is heading back to your birth country to kill the people you left behind in a world war. Some immigrants do that, some won't. That's the ultimate test.
chances are you live in a neighborhood full of prescription drug addicted guidos

Out of curiosity, what is your native language besides English?

I guarantee you that 1st generation Italian, Irish, German, etc. Immigrants weren't fully assimilating either. In fact, we have more than ample evidence.
I'm no fan of FOB acting Russians but it's disingenuous to act like all 1st generation immigrants assimilate entirely.
Immigrants almost never assimilate entirely for a variety of reasons. It is their children and grandchildren that do.

Trashy Russians act a lot like trashy Italians. You don't see the similarities?

1st generation? Is that what *all* of the Russians I hear shouting in Russian are? That's a pathetic excuse.
