NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Designer Kate Spade was found dead in her Manhattan apartment following an apparent suicide, sources tell CBS2.

Spade, 55, was found by her housekeeper at her home at 850 Park Avenue.

Peace and love to her family and friends.

The fashion icon is known for her line of handbags, shoes and accessories. The company had changed hands several times and last year was sold to Coach for 2.4 billion dollars.

This is incredibly sad. SMH. She leaves behind a 13 year old daughter. Just goes to show that money isn't everything and you never know what kind of demons folks are fighting privately. Rest in Peace Kate Spade.

Kate Spade (brand) is being bought up by Coach. I wonder if KS was about to get shafted during the deal.

I don't think she was active with the Kate Spade brand anymore. I believe I read earlier she was working on another brand.

She already got shafted in the deal.

"Neiman Marcus Group purchased 56% of the Kate Spade brand in 1999, and acquired the remaining 44% in 2006.[4] Neiman Marcus sold the Kate Spade label in 2006 for $124 million to Liz Claiborne Inc., which was later renamed to Fifth & Pacific.[4][12] In February 2014, Fifth & Pacific changed its name to Kate Spade & Company.[13] Coach, Inc. acquired Kate Spade for $2.4 billion in May 2017."

I don't know when someone makes millions on a deal, even if it was a low ball deal I don't feel bad and think they got shafted.

Goes to show money isn't everything. It's terrible things had to get to this level.
