Los Angeles, too. Part of the joys of having moderate weather year round.

Los Angeles is worse because the rains only come in for a small part of the year and there is so much urine to wash over its vast sprawl. Just urine on urine on urine, piling up and waiting for those winter rains.

Never go into a socal beach after the rains have fallen recently.

San Fran only has a population of 800k

Nyc almost 9 million. At the rate nyc is going accepting homeless around the country and giving them free housing/metrocards/food etc it’s only a matter of time before it gets out of control. Over 100k are homeless or have been homeless here and keep on rising. We do a good job of hiding them in shelters and subsidized housing

San Fran has around 10k.

Like I said:

"“In a city so rich, it’s crazy to think that many of us have to sacrifice basic necessities for a MetroCard to go to a job interview, a medical appointment, or our children’s schools,” said Darlene Jackson, a single mother from the southeast Bronx, who works as a part-time city employee"

As one stated, same usual suspects pushed for this scheme. They made same arguments behind free feminine hygiene products, then diapers. And so it goes....

At what point if ever does personal responsibility ever kick in or does it? If government continues to enable and support poor decision making the mooching only expands and grows.

Everything has become a "right" in this welfare state and city. From living in places they otherwise couldn't afford, to now being given all sorts just because they are "poor".

Exactly.. people hating on the poor, and whatever little pittance is thrown their way.. but we're cool with corporate subsidies, crazy tax plan, etc.

This is what is wrong with low income people, they have a whole bunch of kids they cant afford and expect everyone else to pay for them. Teenagers should not have financial obligations, they falls solely on the parents. This stunts their own children growth having to focus on other issues besides education.

Students already get discounted metro card as well as seniors. This program is once again giving help to people that really don't need it. Mimimum wage is going to be $15 an hour, that's $28,800 a year. This program is supposedly for those making only 12k a year. Who is making under 12k a year, that isn't already on Social security disability which has access to reduced fair metros already? This means the chronic unemployed, who really don't need the ability to ride MTA is going to benefit from this program and most likely sell them off.
You missed the whole thing buddy.

The guy made a comment comparing how he could afford his MetroCard as a teenager, versus ADULTS today being unable to afford a MetroCard, and my response was that, as a teenager he didn't have real bills, as opposed to the ADULTS who do.

Nobody is talking about teenagers supporting their homes. We're talking about ADULTS being unable to afford MetroCards because their money goes towards supporting their homes.

Two wrongs don't make a right. 2018 when the only thing a democrat and republican can agree upon is the middle class should pay for everything without any of the benefits.

You know where the apparent hatred from the poor comes from on forums like this don't you? It's self hate. These people are too close to being poor themselves, and they fear being with the rest of "poor" people.
