Are you sure it's dog poop?? It might be a bronxite with poor bowel movements
I see a lot more dogs in NYC in general with the whole emotional support dog movement. I know a couple of dudes that bought dogs so they can pick up chicks. (LOL).
I would never get an animal while living in an apt. If you have a home, i can understand getting a dog (for home protection) and a cat (for pest control).
There is a thread on this from a while ago that was pretty entertaining. But I agree, it's an issue. And disgusting. It all stems from a lack of love and respect for the place you live.
The only place where I've seen it as bad is The Heights section of Jersey City. At least have the dog poop by the grass. NOPE. They have their dog poop right in the middle of the sidewalk. I should start taking pictures of the huge poops I see in the Bronx. It's mountainous.

It’s only the ghetto parts that are like that. I haven’t seen such things in Riverdale, Country Club, Woodlawn and other areas.
"Ghetto parts" and "poor quality of life" is not the reason for the dog poop all over the sidewalks. That's a good guess but that claim is specious. I've been to a lot of ghetto areas in the tri state and I don't see this problem. I've been to East New York and I don't see this problem. I've been to areas in New Jersey like Irvington, Newark and even some grimey areas in Jersey City by Ocean Ave, again I don't see this problem.
