Panic buying strips store shelves...with one woman turning her basement into a 'supermarket' and a man buying a YEAR'S supply of food which includes 192 tins of SPAM.

Eating that much SPAM will kill you before the coronavirus.

Though, I am stockpiling on plastic bags (in prep for the bag ban, nothing to do with the coronavirus) and toilet paper...

Two People in New York City Being Tested for New Coronavirus, Health Officials Say.

State Health officials are now testing two people in the city for the new Coronavirus. They are among the first to go through the state lab and officials say that will help speed up the results.

Sunday night, former Mayor Michael Bloomberg plans to talk to the nation about the virus during a three minute televised advertisement set to air around 8:30 p.m.

Looks like a fairly normal line of people waiting for Costco to open on any given day.

Media loves spreading fear. More money for businesses. There's absolutely no reason to fear when only a handful of people have the virus and it is already March 1. In a few more weeks it will hit 60s and then 70s in 6 weeks.

That's odd, because the narration includes a woman exclaiming that she's never seen it like this ever, not at Christmas, Black Friday, etc. and saying "oh my God" as she looks at the crowd.

I wouldn't know since I don't shop at that Costco but it looks like a massive crowd. And apparently it was a large enough crowd/scene that the Post wrote an article about it. Panicked New York shoppers stock up at Costco amid coronavirus fears

Makes sense, she was at a hotspot where the virus was spreading fast because people in those parts do not practice safe hygiene.

Seems like Italy and Iran the virus is popping like wildfire the last few days. Do people there wash hands at all?

I was at Trader Joes/Chelsea and Shoprite this weekend. Neither seemed to have a higher than usual volume of shoppers. I think all the preppers were running out to Costco. I guess they are also the ones who have more room in their homes for large volumes of items.

Edit - I guess the Trader Joes prepper crowd were all on the UWS and not Chelsea. https://www.westsiderag.com/2020/03/...s-gone-by-noon

From your lips to God's ears. I hope this is all hoopla over nothing. My mom hasn't gone out on her daily treks for a month now and she's getting cabin fever; giving me stress. I haven't changed my outdoor routine at all. Just washing my hands more often and more thoroughly. That's it. Healthy so far...
