Problem with moving to the suburbs is that you start hating life 1-2 years in and get bored to death. There is nothing else like the city, I personally appreciate NYC the most when I go on vacation and come back. This time though NYC is going to be hard fu**ed for several years.
De Blasio is crushing the middle class by taking away any possibility of quality public education and his and his wife's gross mismanagement of city finances will result in some colossal neglect and disrepair. And that is before the crime wave that's about to hit with the lax law enforcement, mass-release of prisoners, and most lately economic desperation.
Commercial real estate has already crashed, residential is next. Investors will swoop in for bargains but they better be prepared to wait many years for a rebound
Hes talking about cities in general. Not just NYC.
Also, I love most cities.. but I find NYC suburbs (especially rail connected NJ and Westchester ones) more interesting than living in NYC.
Middle class is done. Much like many Large cities around the world with Socialist/Communist leadership.
Same thing happens, politicians pander to the poor and redistribute resources leading to negelect of the working class. The hottest places in the country are midsized cities like Austin Texas, Nashville Tennessee
The entire busing kids around to increase racial diversity had been on hold even before coronavirus and now it's probably on hold indefinitely. It's the least of your worries if you go to public school in NYC.
Trump should become nyc mayor after he's done with his second term.
Like it or hate it the following is only my opinion:
Who would ever return to a place that kicked you out?
I for one wouldn't. President Donald Trump did the smartest
move by calling Florida Home and giving the half peace sign to N.Y.
New York got what they voted for.................
I'm just so thankful that my ancestors chose to leave Manhattan and Rutherford, NJ in the late 1700's.
And I'm thankful to have been raised in an ultra low cost of living city/region where we had very nice homes and great friends. And we didn't have the pressure to climb the corporate ladder and still maintain a low level standard of living.
And I'm thankful that corporate America allowed me to retire at 58 and enjoy a full life where we don't have to work into our 70s to pay enormous rents.

58? Damn, you worked the majority of your life.
You want to come here constantly with these weak jabs, you may want to plan them better.
As much as I hate this city, I'll brag about retiring at 44 in 3 years with a pension that's most likely triple what you're collecting in Alabama. A pension that I can take anywhere in the country and live like a real king. When I'm still young enough to enjoy it with my kids who won't even be in high school yet.
Now be warned that posts like yours are clear examples of pointless trolling. They will be scrutinized more closely from here on out...

Yes and no, it's actually Durham, San Jose and Washington!
The rationale being that unlike for a traditional crisis where large cities are at advantage of being able to rebounce quicker, this time, the social distancing is altering that dimension.

I've written how old I am plenty of times. Especially recently with all of the childish "boomer" taunts being thrown around at anyone who seemingly has their life in order. As far as I can tell, that's the definition the young-un's are using now.
