It sounds good. I don't know much about the Bronx. Is this a decent area? I'm actually currently considering renting in Parkchester, but if I could own my own apartment for this price, I would certainly welcome it.

Well i am not to familar with that area, but it is close to Yankee Stadium and the new Gateway Center (retail shops such as BJ's, target etc). Close to the new Court house and the new Museum. So the area is on the come up. And a very short commute to Manhattan. Ignore people who try to deter from the Bronx. Just go and see for yourself, you may like it you may not.
Yes I heard about this and it looks pretty awesome..hardwood floors, granite coutnertops, a parkign spot, fitness center, courtyard..and all the other bling. The Yankee Stadium area is another huge plus, and it is 2 stops to the city.....can't be beat at these prices.
That area is becoming the most desireable area of the Bronx due to its proximity to the city, these huge commercial and residential developments, wide boulevard, architecturally beautifully buildings, waterfront access, and its broadening amenities, including shopping and restaurants. I firmly recommend a visit at the very least...the redeveopment of the area is impressive.
I personally wouldn't recommend it. The neighborhood's not all that great.
The blocks of the concourse are DEADLY. Most of the homicides in the Bronx occur in the area above 161st and below the cross bronx from Jerome to Webster....aka Concourse.
The Concourse itself is livable but travel a few blocks away and your life is in danger.
I agree that the blocks off the Concourse are "active" to say the least...especially East of the concourse. Nonetheless, the area IS changing and money is pouring in via the city, private developers, and personal investors. There is a reason why these co-ops are priced so well....however the upside is significant as the are is undergoing a MAJOR transformation.
It looks like the buildongs themselves will be nice. But walk out to go to the corner store and you are in the heart of the ghetto, period. This location is 3 blocks east of Grand Conc. There are recently built townhouses across the street from this location, which are nice. So the block would be ok, but the rest of the neighborhood leaves much to be desired.
Agreed...but that is the reason for the price...and this development is one of many that is transforming the area. It has alot of potential and upside...where else in this city are you going to buy at this price, and with real luxury amenities? This is a no brainer.

You can get a good price on a condo in Parkchester. Have you checked those out at all?
For those crapping on the area, it's an investment. Obviously if it were a nice area, the price would be much higher. Just from an investment point of view it looks very solid. Of course there is a bit of a gamble (not much IMO considering the price). You buy into these type of places with the hope the area will continue to improve.
