It is tough. But often rewarding as its a major step out of routines and a comfort zone also. The country is huge, with many climates, cultures, and geography. Some ofen wonder why they did not move sooner.

I mean, if you're miserable and/or terrified in NYC, by all means, go. There's no moral obligation to live here if you don't like it. People move out of NYC every day for a wide variety of reasons, including that they just don't enjoy being here any more. It's a big country, and you can probably find something more to your taste. As much as I will talk **** about racists and idiots, there's nothing wrong about choosing to move somewhere that you actually like. I myself wouldn't sign a contract saying I'll live here til the day I die.

However, once you move, I strongly recommend you focus on where you are rather than spending a lot of time hating on NYC from afar. That defeats the purpose.
