question - when you do get called down for the medical exam/final processing and interview and you pass everything with no holds, do they assign you to start training (school car) right there and then?

My list # is 22?? After being on an eligible list now The DCAS automated phone says I am no longer on an eligible list also. Is this a glitch? Anyone knows what's up?

MTA is way short on train operators. So much so that they're calling recent retires to try and get then back.

Alrighty.. I was officially sworn in! I went to medical today at 7am and left at 3:30pm (they weren't kidding about bringing lunch..) I passed everything, also found out I had angina and honestly thought that was going to disqualify me, but it didn't. After I was done they swore me in and I was told to report for training on Sept. 30. There are 2 classes starting in September. One on the 16th and the other on the 30th. I am pretty excited, but trying not to show it.

Good luck to everyone.. and thanks for all the posts that everyone has written, they have been extremely helpful!

Also, I was trying to go back to through a whole bunch of posts on this thread.. but couldn't find it. I know someone said to pick a certain shoe that we would be presented with in training. I forgot if it was either the sneakers or the boots.. or?? anyone remember that post?

I just completed my medical today and they swore me in right after and told me to report for training on Sept. 30. But i also read another post and someone said they were called the day after medical. So maybe it depends..

During your first week in schoolcar, they will take you to a shoe store in Queens where you can choose a pair of safety shoes(you're issued 2 pairs, the other you pick up on your own). They have 4 choices: 2 boots, 1 oxford boot-type and 1 sneaker-type. You're issued 2 free pairs every 2 years, you can buy as many as you want though. If all are uncomfortable(destroyed my feet when breaking them in), you can summit a medical form for alternate footwear.
