I've noticed that a lot of men – and a few women – have a habit of looking over at the car next to them when they pull up to a red light. Most guys say "it's just a habit," but I sometimes suspect that it's because they (1) want to see if the other driver is a woman, and (2) want to see if the woman is attractive.
As for women doing it, I suspect that they, too, are looking to see if the driver next to them is of the opposite sex and attractive. Do you agree or do you think it's something else ?

Anyway, sometimes I look at people, sometimes not. Once, in college, I was driving around and stopped next to a bunch of guys my age and they started "dancing" and tried to get me to do it too. Haha.
females who believe its for looks: don't flatter yourselves.
I look about half the time. When I do look, its because the driver is doing something odd...then I start profiling a driver...I would say I am right about 80% of the time....random things like:
-old driver who can't see
-d o u ch e who yaks on the cell
-trophy wife who yaks in an expensive car they can't drive well.
-drunk driver (they scare me & I proceed very carefully)
once in a while I get the ones who entertain me with their behavior
-nose picker
-driving while shaving
-making sandwiches at a stop light.
-foot out the window (yes the driver)
-once someone offer me pot at the stop light
I usually try to position my car so it's not lined up with the person next to me to avoid eye contact and for privacy, I either pull forward or keep back a few feet so were not lined up side to side
Sometimes. If I'm feeling hyper and lip-syncing to something fun and feeling flirty I will look over and smile. However, I just had my windows tinted nice and dark - so no one can see back into my car very well.
If anything it might be a glance out of the side of my eyes but never full on staring at people next to me. Sometimes I will notice out of the corner of my eye people staring at me. I think to myself maybe they want me to stare back or wave hello.
