I honestly hate being asked if I know where things are in stores or if I work at the store. It seems I'm always asked even if I don't have the best or clothes that are common to the store. Please tell me I'm not the only one who is annoyed by this.

It happened to me several times in Big Lots yet I didn't have anything other than my work lanyard that word distinguish me as a worker. I got the idea with the first two, the third I didn't... This has happened elsewhere without my lanyard on too so o have no idea.

I get asked that from time to time. I think if you're not walking in a slow ambling stroll and actually walk like you have somewhere to get to, some people think you're not one of the customers. It seems like a lot of places, I'm one of the only ones there with a purpose; most everyone else seems to be strolling along in a daze. It's kind of frustrating.

Do you look young? Could be why.

I was once at a company dinner function held at a 5 star restaurant, and my co-worker's husband mistook me for one of the waitresses and tried to order a drink from me.

When I lived in Florida, I had this happen every time I went to a Walmart. The first time it happened, a man asked me about something to which I replied I did not know. After I replied to him, he stood there glaring at me. It did not even cross my mind he had assumed I worked there so I kept on my business. He finally got a clue and said don't you work here? To his credit he apologized profusely.

It became a frequent occurrence. I was never in Walmart colors so they only thing I could assume is that I looked like the majority of people that worked there so people ignored the fact that my clothing did not match. Some people were so rude that I stopped being polite and started to just ignore them.

I'm a "non-traditional" (older) student at a university. I get mistaken for a professor all the time.

If you have a purse on your shoulder it almost never happens.

I guess, I am 30 but I guess I look 25... That said, I don't get it. By me, there as many older workers as there are younger...
