The location, it's a massive in-fill and mixed-use project, the multi-story grocery, public rooftop plazas, it's direct access to the Blue line; buy your groceries walk out the door and on to a train to your office, hotel, house, condo, apartment... This would be amazing project in any city. Is it architecturally stunning? Maybe not, but that's not the point.

It's a cool project. I just thought it was funny when I posted about 100 Plaza, I got smart remarks. From some of the other Charlotte guys. Now it's like WOW! About a project that has is almost identical. From the look of the building, the grocery store, and the hotel proposed next to it.

Ok. The same as 100 Plaza. Except for the rail line?

I'm sorry I don't know about 100 Plaza? Does it have a full-service grocery store?

I'm sorry that I still don't hear people in Raleigh making the connection between transportation and development. Politicians and business owners and the News and Observer have to stop insisting that "there's not enough density to support rail/fixed-route transit." I understand that most of the development occurring in Charlotte (north of 70%?) is happening within a 1/2 mile from a rail station.

It reminds me of a plan from years ago for Raleigh and went looking for link/images from the Raleigh news media. Someone at NCSU designed a plan for restoring the streetcar line running from the Union Square to the Fair Grounds in Raleigh; with zoning in place to focus development at stations along the route. I quick search turned up this...Hillsborough Street from back in 1997...There were some good graphics if I remember correctly from the news stories -- I'll keep searching online for these.

It would also add that a development of this scale would have required millions of public money to get built even 10 yrs ago. The fact that 2 developers are willing to build towers Uptown without anchor tenants is a strong indication of their confidence in the market

The article in the (Charlotte, Triangle) Business Journals today about Charlotte and Raleigh (and Asheville and Wilmington and Greensboro) etc. working together is a masterpiece.

Yes it has a 2 story Harris Teeter (48,000sq ft)100 yards across from it. A proposed hotel site next to it. No brand announcement yet. On the other side of proposed hotel site,is a new Hyatt House. Directly in front is Midtown Park and Amphitheater.

Plus an additional 38,000 sq ft of ground floor retail.

Yes. Nice project but no transit. Too bad it's not downtown!

So it's basically the Whole Foods we already have in South Park? Except a Harris Teeter?
