The old Southern Democrats are NOT liberals or similar to today's Democrats. They are actually quite Republican in their voting, though registered as Democrats. For the first 2/3 of the 20th century, the Democrats were also the party of white supremecy and segregation. In the later third, many kept the Democratic affiliation based on loyalty but voted conservatively. Jessie Helms had strong support from the "Jessiecrats".

Do you not understand that NAFTA was started before Clinton was elected? As to the trade agreements with China, Tricky Dick started that.

That has nothing to do with NC state democrats.

Most of the destructive crap shoved our economy into record debts and high unemployment because of the democrats wanting to make everyone feel good and smoke from the same bong. They bullied all corporations by allowing free trade agreements, high and destructive regulations and then tax all of us to death and give our tax money away like its nothing.

Most non-tax payers are Democrats so I'm not sure what tax breaks you are referring to. Most receiving freebees are Democrats and they are loud, shameless people. They want more, more, more and they want it for FREE!

Bottom line - we give away more than we receive. This is called financial ruin and we can't pay back what the democrats have borrowed from the fed over the past several years. We live in a broken fiscal system that spends more than it earns. It has to Stop! Sorry for hurting feelings, but we are Broke and can't pay for any more freebees. We can't pay our bills![/quote]

The sad thing is that 90% of the state's voters should be voting Democratic. Unfortunately, the GOP has manipulated the poor, ignorant masses to focus on singular issues rather than the bigger picture.

Racial divides, abortion, gay rights, and religious strife all motivate indiduals to vote GOP. and you see the results.

The rich view the poor GOPers as little more than drones, that do the voting and fight the battles as the rich silently sit on the sidelines and count their money.

While the GOP are essentially rich $&)(;$&s exploiting poor and middle class whites, the Dems are just plain ol' stupid. Just a modest move to the center and a focus on jobs for middle class, rather than the endless cause de jour, and they would take control forever!

It's pitiful. All I can say is that the drug culture of the 70's has come home to roost.

Correction: EUC was cut by the Obama administration and not the state.

No -- Due to a federal budgetary shortfall (sequestration caused by the Republican controlled Federal congress), the states decide how/when to make the cuts. NC independently decided to make its citizens ineligible for federal EUC benefits. I think it's the only state thus far to do this:

thats incorrect. the GOP decided to decrease the amount people could earn. The led to the cuts. All the GOP had to do was leave the unemployment alone like all the other 49 states did.

How's that GOP outreach to African Americans, Latinos, Asians, the young, urbanites, and the well-educated going?
