Whichever city is most committed to a downtown stadium is the bid I will support.

I don't know about what others think but I think that the gold triangle that the logo separates from the overall star represents the Triangle region. Even the points of that gold triangle are somewhat aligned with the relationship of the the three points of the Triangle.

Booming Charlotte builds out and grapples with growth

A new series of massive developments in this Carolina city suggests the answer to what’s next is everything at once

Carolina, especially if you’re a developer. Coming off a particularly large growth spurt, the city has so many multi-million dollars developments in the works—more than 12,300 units were under construction at the start of the year, with about 13,500 more planned—that locals have complained about a forest of look-alike apartment buildings.

I thought it was just design. But it'd be a nice nod to the actual triangle. But I think the overall design is so soccer and so North Carolina and represents the state as a whole.

I watched the live feed of the announcement online; the logo was described by the owner and he confirmed that that was the intent of that gold triangle.

City, county likely to hear soccer stadium pitch

We know this much: Increasing momentum and interest in the sport spurred some usual suspects — deputy city manager Ron Kimble, tourism executive Tom Murray and Charlotte Center City Partners CEO Michael Smith among them — to push for exhibition matches at Bank of America Stadium and to discuss soccer as a magnet for millennials and international business connections. Last summer, a pair of exhibitions featuring international teams brought more than 50,000 fans to the NFL stadium twice in a 10-day span.

An expansion team will likely cost $100 million or more and McPhilliamy has said he will need deep-pockets investors to pay for an expansion franchise.

Although I like the Memorial Stadium reno idea for the MLS...in all honesty I think Raleigh would be better for an MLS team and Charlotte should focus on MLB.

Charlotte
NFL
NBA
MLB
College-Charlotte, Davidson

Triangle
NHL
MLS
AAA, A baseball
College-NC State, Duke, UNC

Its a nice mix for that fits each region...Charlotte is a pro town with mid level college play. The Triangle is a college area with mid level pro play.

I think that this is a very fair assessment. With nearly 155,000 ACC Football seats and over 50,000 ACC basketball seats, I can never even imagine a scenario where either the NFL or NBA would work in the Triangle. On the other hand, I can totally imagine MLS working given all the local enthusiasm and participation in the sport at the youth level.

It is going to take deep pockets of money for a MLS or MLB team. I think MLB would go over better in Charlotte than MLS.

For Charlotte to get both would be over one billion. It would have to build 2 new stadiums.
With the Panthers, when Jerry Richardson dies his share will have to sold. Bruton Smith say he wants part of the Panthers, he may buy his share.

My question is where is all that money coming from. Will tax payers be asked to shell out millions?

Hope HB2 is gone or this may turn out to be no teams for any city in NC.
