Cooper was busy enough with the Covid situation. Trump started it. Cooper did not. Trump made a demand that Cooper guarantee, in May, that no face masks or social distancing would be required in August. Cooper is a lawyer, not a psychic.

You live in NJ. If you aren't old enough to remember what a mess Trump made in Atlantic City, you know people who are. After all, rule one for casinos is the house always wins. How'd he bankrupt 2 casinos?

The Republicans signed a contract with the city of Charlotte. He wanted to break the contract because that's something that he's been known for, for decades. Here's the thing, he knows that Florida is a swing state. He apparently doesn't understand that North Carolina is too. North Carolina party registrations are Democratic, Unaffiliated/Independent, then Republican, in that order.

He also seems to be unaware that people in NC are angry about the last 10 years of extreme gerrymandering. People in NC have been pretty happy with the way that Roy Cooper and Dr Mandy Cohen have handled the Covid mess. So, your take on the situation is just pain wrong, in my opinion.

I think it was more personal than political for Trump. The 2016 RNC in Cleveland was a convention in which Trump's nomination was not entirely supported. In 2020, this will be Trump's last chance to get a "packed house" pep rally that's all about him.

He really doesn't care about what's going on right now (Covid-19 and a major civil rights movement). He just wants HIS convention as planned dammit and NOTHING is going to stop that show from happening. It's really that simple.

Cooper did the right thing for two reasons. We can't treat public health and human rights like they're political issues. These things should have bipartisan support (currently, they do not). Now is just not the right time for cities and states to compete for events and conventions. We've got bigger issues to fix first.

It's always personal with Trump. Honestly, I expected that he'd move the convention to Doral. He's that tone deaf. He's made the occasional comment about being aware that Florida can go either way. He doesn't seem to be aware that the same goes with North Carolina. Lack of awareness is sort of a thing with him. When someone started a thread about his South Jersey rally, last winter, a poster posted many links to information about the countless lawsuits connected to his foray into A.C..

Funny thing is, the mayor of Jacksonville has said that if there's a Covid 19 problem in August it will be dealt with then. That's what Vi and Roy were saying. If that's good enough for Jacksonville, it should have been good enough for Charlotte. Can you see what I see? Upcoming lawsuits.

I can see some lawsuits, but let's be real here. Trump is not an ordinary president. Over the past 2 years, my support for an RNC Convention in Charlotte has turned into apathy at best. To avoid any legal actions from Charlotte's host committee, Charlotte will most likely be a frontrunner for the 2024 RNC.

Jacksonville is being given the convention with the exact terms that Charlotte was dealing with, given the Covid situation.

I see no reason for Charlotte to refrain from suing the wannabe dictator, although it will mean getting in line. There's been speculation that this will lose NC for Trump. I hope it does. The RNC should have to make Charlotte whole. I would not accept frontrunner status for 2024. They had an actual contract for this year and they allowed Trump to play politics and break that contract. Their word is no good.

It doesn’t matter that the terms are the same.

Trump leaves NC for Jacksonville after he stands up to a rogue democratic governor who is out to get him, but trump made an unprecedented move to move the convention to show them who’s boss!

It’s just a messaging ploy To show trump is tough....

Yeah, real tough. That's why he moaned and groaned after people made fun of him descending the ramp at West Point. He's clueless. He has spent a lifetime trying to ignore Karma.

The bizarre ramp walk seems to be getting the most play, but what was really bizarre to me was having to use 2 hands to take a sip of water... The only time I've ever experienced that or seen it is because hands are shaking. He called all those cadets back just for the good optics of giving a speech in front of the future of our military and it basically backfired... he looked weak.

Such a big deal was made about his opponent's health in 2016 with various videos played on a loop... yet, here we are with him becoming his own victim of giving fodder to his opponents about his stamina and physical well being can be questioned.

Cooper will be bashed by the GOP no matter what he does... he has zero chance of even the smallest positive anything, so I give him credit for not folding. It wouldn't have mattered. Let the yes men continue to be yes men... they can explain why they are packing an arena for political reasons only.

Very weak. Heck, my nephew's 3 year old son is so over using 2 hands for a glass, unless his parents make him, for a big glass.

I do believe that Karma is getting busy with Trump. Lately, it seems like most things tie back to an incident where he made fun of someone else. As we used to say in the late 60s/early 70s. Karma is a b****.
