my husband side of the italian is half silician and half napolitano
Our daughter is a spaguiney (don't know if I spelled that right but pronounced 'spa-gin-e'). Our daughter is half spanish (puerto rican from my husband) and half guiney (from my italian side).
My point is this...if its green and its growing well, along with the grass...whose to SAY that its a "plant out of place"??? My perspective is this...it alive and growing...let it live!!! Vicki
I think you missed my point...sorry. If a weed is growing in your garden, you probably want to get rid of it, and call it a weed. But after all it IS just another plant...it's just NOT WHERE you want it; hence, it's "a plant out of place".
They are wherever they transplanted to. Italians didn't immigrate to anywhere in the south really, except for Louissiana. Most native NC people have scottish or englsih heritage, except for African Americans of course.
no one answered the question... where are the Italians in NC?
Guess I should say, "Italian Americans"
Will I be able to find a good Italian butcher or bakery?

I answered it.... there ain't any! lol. The only italians here are transplanted from other areas. There aren't any long-standing italian families here because Italians just didn't immigrate to the south back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries (outside of LA), they pretty much stayed in the Northeast.
My pastor is Italian-American. A transplant from California. lol He moved here in the late 80s, I believe it was. His parents moved to California from Italy before he was born. He doesn't have a butcher shop or bakery though. lol
