We have our appliances on order and we are still sorting through boxes.
I normally love preparing holiday dinners, but this move has stressed me out and I just want to relax.

Some of you may know that we do not eat meat. We still like the traditional Thanksgiving side dishes, but it doesn't look as though I will have a stove in time.

Are there any restaurants in the area that are open on Thanksgiving that will also have a fish or pasta option and will have vegetables that are not in a sauce? Our son is a Vegan - we are not but some places slather everything in butter or cream sauce and that will not work for him - although it's OK with us.

We really don't want to spend Thanksgiving at a Chinese restaurant if at all possible.

We are willing to drive a bit for a good place! Poconos are OK for example.

Thanks!

PS please do not turn this thread into a referendum on vegetarianism vs omnivorism or what ever . I really do not preach to anyone and I don't want to argue - we just want to celebrate Thanksgiving

I'm not sure where but just wanted to warn you to ask where ever you do go. Did they use Chicken Stock or some other meat seasoning in the potatoes or dressing?

I know that most Chefs put Chicken Stock in their bread dressing or stuffing as some call it. Since you don't eat meat it will not be stuffed so therefore it is dressing. Some people do put Chicken Stock in their mashed potatoes as well and certainly almost all use some kind of dairy.

Good luck with your search.

You guys have a Wegman's up there don't you? They will have the sides all cooked and ready for re-heating.

LOL - A Christmas Story - I LOVE THAT MOVIE - especially when the hound dogs steal the turkey and trash the kitchen... and the leg lamp, and the flat tire curse by Ralphie, tongue on the frozen flagpole ...

I watch that movie at least 3 times on Christmas Day.. LOL

Sheena - good luck. If I were you I'd call around to any vegetarian restaurants in the area to see if they are open.

How about a Tofu Turkey via the Microwave? Yummy!!

Or else you can just buy a pumpkin pie, hit the Wegman wine machine a few times and spend the day DRINKING HEAVILY... LOL

Sorry for bustin on ya - just kidding..

I am a big fan of "A Christmas Story" Love that movie - we have the DVD and watch it every year!
Don't knock what you haven't tried varmintblaster I am a great cook - but a microwave just won't cut it. Trust me no one ever left my table not feeling satisfied!

On the positive side, an angelic forum member sent me a link to Patzel's in Clark's Summit.
I think this will work as long as we get a reservation!

Thanks!!!

Hey Sheena, try Wildflowers at East Mountain Inn near Bear Creek. They have vegetarian dishes.
