Mr. Yuk say what you want, but once that dollar store opens it will change everything... Go check out the dollar store on Prescott off of Mulberry st and the surrounding neighborhood.

That neighborhood around Brunetti's isn't exactly Greenridge you know and I know you live in the West Side, but lets face it the trash is making its way into every neighborhood in the city....The last year my son was at Robert Morris in Greenridge the demographic of his class had changed immensely from 1st grade through to 5th...

If I thought we could sell both homes and get my whole family out of here we would at this point, but it isn't going to happen anytime soon in this city or market.

Might as well stay and just buy more cameras, firearms and ammo.

10 more cops on the chopping block in the next few months on top of the 13 that were just laid off.

I hear you....aside from some patches here and there, this part of West Side is not that bad. But maybe youre on to something....Jackson St is a hole, and lo and behold, there's a Family Dollar there...coincidentally it replaced a neighborhood super market (Skettino's). I hope this dollar store at Brunetti's story is just a rumor....

What is the demographic that changed so immensely? Senior citizens were being admitted to the 1st grade?

My parents live in West Scranton by Gerrity's. They both work the nightshift and came home one morning to find their garage all spray painted with gang symbols. I guess it's a sign of the times in Scranton. Just 20 years ago, I wouldn't ever imagine something like that in that part of town.

The whole west side area in general is slowly becoming a ghetto. All you see now is minority types walking around. The quality of life has gone down and the neighborhoods are crumbling. There is more crime than ever and property values are going down. Everyone knows what the reason is, because it wasn't like this 20 years ago.

I get it! Intelligent, non-racists are now the minority in West Scranton. Wasn't like that 20 years ago.

NYRangers 2008,

I know you meant well but try not to paint such a broad stroke. Every race has its own criminal element of sh%tbags - white, black, brown, red, and yellow. A majority of "minority types" are just like you and me - law abiding residents who just want to work, support their families, and pay taxes.

Might be true somewhere else, but not in Scranton. They come here for cheap living, welfare and a good market to sell their wares.

Read the police blotter or listen to a scanner.

.
Love that term "they". Let's lump all peoples that look different into one group and call them "they". "They" are a different color, so "they" must be on welfare.

There are a lot of places in our area that are not Scranton if you hate it.
