When I read this story, all I could say is why? Do we really need a another drug store in Scranton. Is that what this city is becoming, drugstores, banks are bars as business entities? They're tearing a place where people have fun and get together for a good time in place of another business which there is a glut of. So now, kids that bowled there and that had a good time will have no place to go and may get in trouble doing something elsewhere. Another bad move by the city. Well, as I agree with you the last thing we need is another drug store. I would have to say both the Green Ridge, lanes and South Side, lanes, need to be shut down! Both all full of nothing but kids hanging out smoking weed, and drinking beer, getting into fights.. I went to the bowling lanes in Green Ridge, last year and it was a mess, then tried South Side, same story.. Perhaps, if some of these places were better looked after this would not happen.. But heck they just put up a new bank, right on the corner across from a drug store, now they are going to build another one 100 feet away.. I guess it could work..

I say build a new state of the art, modern bowling center that would attract a better crowd than kids who smoke weed, get into fights and drink beer. I agree with you, those lanes are pretty seedy looking. Build something nice and nice people will come, just not another drug store.

"nothing but kids hanging out smoking weed, drinking beer, getting into fights"

Are you serious? I love ridiculous generalities! I visited Green Ridge Lanes around Christmas for a charity benefit, and while it wasn't spotless, the weed smoking, beer drinking kids must have taken the night off.

One of my classmates at King's wants to open up his own family-friendly bowling center someday in Lackawanna County. Chacko's in Wilkes-Barre is by far the most "upscale" bowling center in the region. I always get a ghetto-trash vibe whenever I go to South Side Bowl.

I know this vibe you're speaking of at these places and I think that making something upscale like this would be better than putting up yet another drug store that we already have enough of.

Huh...You don't mean the lanes right by my house that I take my son to do ya? John your definitely off base on Green Ridge. Southside I only eat lunch at during the week and can't say what its like at night, but Green Ridge is nice and it will be missed in the neighborhood thats for sure. We don't need another drug store across the street from a drug store and in front of a grocery store with a drug store in it.

That's why I don't understand why they're doing this. They're taking a well known establishment that people have fun at and replacing with something that is not needed. It's not like they're bringing in more jobs by putting a Walgreens up as opposed to a bowling alley. I just don't see the demand for another drug store in the Green Ridge area. The city is right on the pulse of what is happening in Scranton right?
