I hate all sports. Should I go and shoot down all the sports threads I can find, telling everyone how lame it is and how hanging out at the library is a much better use of time?

Ok what is there to do in Scranton for those under the age of 60 and older then 10?

Almost all of that is interesting to me. I like local history, art, swimming, etc though. I guess if you don't like any of that stuff you are SOL.

I love art, museums, and libraries...and I'm only 41.

Dan, your attitude really...you know what, maybe you don't like certain things but other people do. I know plenty of people who would find hanging out on the river and catching fish GROSS and DISGUSTING cause they aren't into that sort of thing.

Doesn't make them wrong or right...just different.

You keep at this you'll end up getting banned. Why don't you find another dog to hunt, huh?

FWIW, we have been to Steamtown numerous times because our kids LOVE trains. Some of us hate swimming in natural bodies of water and don't have a pool, so yes we ::GASP:: pay to swim. Museums have changing exhibits.

I guess what we're saying is, Scranton isn't the type of town people would flock to on vacation.
Well I'll have you know that my sister in law is coming from St. Louis (a great town btw, to visit...lots of great things "to do" and many are free or low cost...but I'd never want to LIVE there!) and she is looking forward to going to the Houdini Museum and the Coal Mine Tour. If we have time I know they would love the Everhart Museum but we may not have time for all the things so we can only pick one or two things in Scranton...

My brother is coming to visit from Tacoma and yeah, we have the Coal Mine Tour and Houdini Museum on the list of things to try and do while he's here.

My kids have been on the Coal Mine tour a couple times - once as a family and each one has gone for a field trip. They LOVE it. They think it's COOL. And they are looking forward to going AGAIN to share it with their aunt and uncle. (and all three are over 10 years old.)

Here's the thing. Just because YOU think something is lame doesn't mean everyone else does.
