It's very fast paced. The reason is simple: The prevailing perception in the area is that if you aren't constantly in a hurry, you aren't important.

Of course, because many people in this area think their time is more valuable than the next persons... the human fabric here wears thin.

Another example - a friend of mine is single and dating. He tells me single people here won't be caught dead home alone on the weekends - it implies they are losers, lol. So, they won't respond to calls even if available - ha!
