I know you got yours to, how much are you shelling out? Got my personal property tax bill in the mail today and BOW! They slapped me with a 600 dollar tax bill. Did the taxes in the State go up or something...sheeesh! Still don't know why I get taxed on a car that I don't live in...AND I don't even get the stupid county tickets any more...oh well i guess /endRant

We got ours last week, before we left on vacation. One car was $40-something, one was $60-something.

What kind of cars ya'll drive or how much are they worth?

I'm a little nervous, because I just bought a 2008 Honda that is worth $19k NADA retail. I'm frightened about the bill.

How is it determined? Wife and I just moved, haven't registered yet. How long can I wait, can we avoid a bill this year?

I would not play around with this. It is much more pain if you don't. You have 60 days in Arlington.

My husband's is in the $260s - a used Acura TL. Mine is just under $100 - a 10 year old Beetle.

Look, you cannot avoid this bill. It is a yearly tax in all of VA. You should have known about it when you moved here. It is much less than it used to be (at least from what I hear - I moved here after the "no car tax" stuff) And frankly, your state taxes are paying for the "extra" that was reduced as payback to the counties.

You drive a rather expensive car if you have a $600 tax bill.

We also have an issue with the DMV. My wife's car is registered and titled in PA to her and her mother, as she bought it when she was 18. Will Virginia grant a new title if her mother just signs off on it, or do we need it retitled back home. If that's the case, we aren't going to go thru the hassle.

Wow, you people are fancy. My car was valued at $100. No tax, but I still have to pay $33 each year just for the damn sticker! @#! Arlington.

My car is a MY 07 and my bill was $600, pretty sure it may have gone up since last year.
