I am concerned about this as well. It just seems like it is another opening for corruption and grift.

I disagree. Legalized gambling in other parts of the country do not seem to have hurt Vegas much at all IMHO. I think it is crushing Atlantic City.

Also there are some VERY nice areas of NJ. We just do not hear about them as much.

I see no correlation between Vegas and NJ.

Hot lanes are spreading all over the country not just NJ and NOVA its nothing new nobody wants to pay for roads by increasing taxes so private firms come in build the roads and charge us a fee to use them.
One way or the other we end up paying for them anyway, there's no free ride no matter what.

No transpo funds, and people don't want to reform land use, so you end up with mega projects funded by private entities. You can't have it both ways. Support raising gas taxes, fed one has been stuck for 20 years, meanwhile inflation has continued unimpeded so the value of the gas tax has defacto gone down.

Well, poll after poll has shown that Americans support paying for roads through tolls rather than gas taxes. Not that I really agree with that, especially paying tolls to private companies.

And on the flip side, I have never seen bad traffic on New Jersey's toll roads because the toll money goes towards widening the highways.

why not just legalize the sale of pot and use that tax revenue for roads? and schools? Hell even middle of nowhere VA would benefit from possibly growing and producing pot instead of living off the NOVA/ Hampton roads taxes
