Congrats Tysons! You will have the region's largest Whole Foods at 70k sqft. I can't imagine what a Whole Foods that big would look like. My guess is that they will divide it into neighborhoods or shops like a Wegmans which would probably include a pretty awesome cafe/bar.

“Tysons Corner is truly a growing hub for the D.C. area — it deserves a store that will evolve alongside of it,” Scott Allshouse, president of Whole Foods Market’s Mid-Atlantic Region, said in a statement. “As a flagship location, we are dreaming up new innovations that will make this store unlike any other.”

As per consumer report's top groceries, WF comes after Wegmans & HT. I decided to not spend at WF anymore.

While I feel Wegmans is a superior grocery store, I can't fathom ruling out a market just because of a Consumer Reports article.

Wegman's is cruel. They sent flyers to our neighborhood touting a new location to be opened up. Woohoo! Then I looked at the address. With all the stop signs and lights between the new store and us, it would be a half hour at best, not so good for fresh produce and frozen goods.

It takes me 1/2 hour to get to Wegmans, and I am there almost every weekend. Often times I stop off for other chores or activities after I shop. Frozen goods and fresh produce are just fine in the insulated bags.

My WF in Chicago is 80,000 sf- The Natural Market section and the Groceries section are huge. The NM has its own trained holistic salespeople which is nice. It was also very clean. Forgot-- in the 90's, the WF produce section was known as a pick up and mingle non-bar. Lots of single guys and gals dressed up asking each other about how to cut up dragon fruits etc. Ha ha!!

Check out the food inspection reports for Whole Foods in Vienna and Rt 7. Disgusting!

I shop at Wegmans. The farmers market in Falls Church City is great and Mosaic has a nice one too.

That's good, but we have other alternatives that are not 15+ miles away as this new Wegman's is-- 2 Harris Teeters, a Whole Foods & a Trader Joe's & Costco, less than 10 minutes away, as well as other grocery stores, and we are a small household so don't buy enough groceries to justify long weekly trips. So I suspect most of my neighbors will hope for them to open a store nearby sometime later.

Whole Foods is for poors. We only shop at Balducci's when our cook is on vacation.

Wegmans business model is to draw people from a 30 mile radius so that probably has a lot to do with why you are getting flyers.
