I think I good call for OPM would be to close all offices at 12 with option of telework/unscheduled leave. Would give people plenty of time to get home.

1 foot of snow is pretty much guaranteed at this point for everyone. Someone will get close to 30" -- probably in the Shenandoah Valley.
The problem with that is that this region is congested when people have like 6 hours of staggered commuting times. If the feds let go at once, yikes. I think it will be a liberal leave/telework day on Friday since it now looks like the snow won't start until later in the afternoon. If it is bad enough, Monday will be the closed day.

Really worried about massive power outages from this storm in the entire DMV area because of the anticipated wind guests during the heaviest periods of snow.

No one working Sat? I'm supposed to but hardly think I will be going. No doubt plows will only be focusing on main roads not side streets. Ugh!!

If my experience continues for this storm I will be calling VDOT on Monday night or Tuesday after hearing, "We have made at least one pass to all roads", to let them know that my street hasn't been plowed. We will be told that our street has indeed been recorded as plowed. I will read posts by people saying the "roads are fine and passable". This will lead to another call the next day letting them know our street has not been plowed. A visit by a VDOT supervisor or an email to my state delegate will eventually lead to a plow making a few passes.
