Well, I'm supposed to work this Saturday and Sunday but it looks like I'll have to waste two PTO days instead.
Really worried about power outages this storm. I went to Ayers Hardware in Arlington and bought the only emergency stove left in stock. At least my Progresso soup will be warm...

Sounds like VDOT might have underestimated the clipper tonight and failed to pretreat the roads adequately. Just a dusting out there, but with the temps as cold as they are, it all stuck to the surfaces and seems to be causing quite some havoc.

ah..the benefits of living on an official snow emergency route......my street gets plowed every fifteen minutes. Annoying as I am trying to sleep, but not annoying enough to complain.

Slipped all around the Claremont area of Arlington trying to get home, saw 4 accidents and had several near misses myself. Friend who lives in College Park was not so lucky and got into 8 car pileup on Beltway.

I don't recall the weather warnings about yesterday. Everyone is focused on Friday. They said it would be snow showers, but it was much worse than that. However, I'm glad I grew up in Michigan. It still took 4 hours to get home last night. Most of that was sitting on fairfax Dr trying to get on 66. I took another route after an hour of moving just two blocks. Arlington did a horrible job treating the roads. Fairfax and Loudoun were much better.

It was definitely dicey last night. I ran out to Lowes then Harris Teeter and both stores were a 'bit' crazy. The drive home was short but you could feel the snow sticking and forming a nice slick layer; could feel it every time I came to a stop.
