OP isn't worried about getting TO Hampton Roads since they'll leave Friday morning. It's the return trip in question.

I wouldn't come back on Sunday, Monday perhaps. Even though the roads might be clear most of the way, it only takes a couple of mountains of snow, drifts, cars that got stuck with tons of snow plowed over them to make your trip back a nightmare.

Crud. Too many legit reasons not to go. I really wanted to but I know it's a bad idea. Thanks, everyone, for making me look at it realistically.

If you have time and patience AND a big ole SUV with four wheel drive, good snow tires, and lots of clearance, sure, you could drive down and back with ease.

That drive sound stressful on a nice day, lol.

All I know is, I'm curling up with my pile of bread and toilet paper for three days. It's going to be a real party.

His meet was cancelled so it's no longer an issue. Plus now Norfolk is calling for snow/sleet and I've heard they have 7 snow plows for the entire city. Although... being holed up in a hotel down there vs being here shoveling... "Honey, I'm so sorry, but I'm stuck. You'll just have to take care of the kids, the house, and the dog." Tempting!
