I am in Hawaii for vacation next week and it’s going to be my sister’s 21st birthday. I’m looking for a steakhouse for her, I found Ruth Chris which my sister does like but so wanted to see if anyone had more options especially because I could take her to one where we live. Steakhouses where the steaks are well seasoned because I have been to more than a few where there was very little.
I was just reading an article on tomahawk steaks here in hawaii. Here's a link. The places listed are pricey. La Mer is one of the most expensive restaurants on the island.
Buzz's isn't about the food, it's all about the ambiance and everything tiki! Couple of maitai or other frothy drink with an umbrella in it and she will never notice the steak.
Generally at 21, folks aren't too gourmet already. La Mer, Alan Wong's, etc., might be overkill at that age. Since it's a "Hawaiian Vacation" tiki ticky tacky may be just the thing. A day at Kailua beach, head across the street for maitai and steak, who's gonna notice the quality of steak?
Thanks for the responses. I saw Hy and Prime but I will also look up La Mer. The dinner is mostly a family thing and she’ll go out with out with her friend and our cousin later. It’s a family thing to take us a really nice restaurant when we turn 21. She’s only ever gotten leftovers from when our parents went out so I’m willing to buy her whatever she wants that night.

Keep in mind La Mer is not a Steakhouse - it is a French Restaurant.
If you do go, they will not seat you without a reservation - they do not take walkups.
