Just moved to Oahu (will be stationed at Hickam) and have been looking for a house. The best places we've found for us are in Kapolei and Ewa, but I'm worried about the traffic. Can anyone tell me if there's a commute advantage to living in one or the other? One of the houses we're looking at in Kapolei is just off of Farrington Hwy and very close to H-1. Will that shorten the commute as compared to Ewa? What about living up in Makakilo? Thanks for any advice!

If the place is close to H-1 (Kapolei- not towards Kalealoa) and not all the way down Ft. Weaver Rd (Ewa) then the commute will certainly be quicker.
There are some nice places in Makakilo, just as in Ewa Beach & Kapolei- it really depends upon the property.

Generally, the closer to the freeway the less time you will spend in traffic...

I love Kapolei and Makakilo! Great community. I would pick the ones in that neighborhood. It seems to be a little cooler in Makakilo than in Eva.
What about Mililani?? It's not that far out, same as Kapolei..

Hickam is a great base. Has a nice beach, and is beautiful!
