Celebrating 25 Years of Honolulu City Lights - The City's Most Treasured Christmas Tradition in Brass Collectible Hawaiian Christmas Ornaments

I'm pretty darn sure my parents never took me to the tree lighting when I was little! We pretty much bounced between Oahu and California my first 10 years of life, heh. But anywho, just wanted to ask, for those who have gone in the past:

Where's the best place to park for this event? Any suggested times to head over to Honolulu? We're in Mililani. The hubby and I would really love to take our 3 1/2 year old to see the tree lighting!

Thanks for your help!

I live in Wahiawa.

I park at Ala Moana Shopping Center and take the bus... is so much easier than hunting for parking in the capitol district! There are also trolleys that go back and forth for the tree lighting.

See you there!

I always liked the lights on the Board of Water Supply building. Theirs moved long before other folks got into the sequenced lights. The building where the Building Department is at will probably have their big star up, too. It's almost become a tradition by now, hasn't it? They had their displays up before the whole block got into the act. Now several blocks around are all decorated. It has turned into quite the display, hasn't it?

There is also "First Night" where they have that big block party festival around the capitol block. When it started, it seemed to have been a quest for a non-alcoholic alternative to a New Year's party. It seems to be doing well, too.

For other events at/around Honolulu Hale, we have parked in the underground parking garage off Beretania, just Ewa of Punchbowl.
